I was born in Hartford (USA) on the 16th of November 1964 from a Japanese mother (Teiko) and an Italian father (Enrico) and I lived there the first three years of my life. Then I went in Norway where I lived until I became 6 years old and then I went to Italy where I currently live. During the years of my High School at Collegio Arcivescovile Ballerini in Seregno near Milan, I developed a passion for philosophy and psychology that build up during the years of my Medical School and that brought me to study psychiatry. During my professional growth I've been very luck to meet excellent Magisters, among them Prof. Laura Bellodi, Prof. Enrico Smeraldi, Prof. Eric Griez, Prof. Donald Klein and Prof. Francesca Brambilla and I devoted my interest to the investigation and treatment of anxeity and emotional disorders, a field that still stimulates my interest.
During this years (more than20!) of experience in the field of anxiety and emotional disorders I build up some believes:
- The importance of respect patients as Persons.
- The central role of scientific methodology and thinking as Indispensable Guides.
- The necessity to think about patient as a Complex Subject that is the result of his genetics, his life experiences and the context where he lives.
- The awareness of the Deep Ignorance on the mechanisms of our mind and our brain and of the long street that research and human thinking have to follow to reach this goal.
- The importance of Team Work in the knowledge process and in mental health.
- The central role of open and transparent discussion as a starting point for a personal growth.
The reason why I created this web site is related to the strong belief that practitioners, clinicians, co-workers and reasearchers but especially all the patients that have the intention to ask my help for their mental stability have the right to know who I am in a complete and transparent way. |
